Join us for an informational event about breast health and the importance of cancer screenings. With the double impact of COVID-19 and anti-Asian violence affecting Oakland Chinatown neighborhoods, more residents are delaying critical screening appointments out of fear of leaving the safety of their homes and visiting healthcare providers. Experts from Asian Health Services, Epic Care, and the American Cancer Society will discuss the importance of regular cancer screenings and answer general questions about cancer screening. This event will be presented in English with Cantonese captions.

• Dr. Irene Lo (Moderator) is a general and minimally invasive who practices at Epic Care, a multi-specialty practice including physicians across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Dr. Lo is also a longtime volunteer with the American Cancer Society and now currently serves as the Chair of the Greater Bay Redwood Area Board. Dr. Lo holds a Bachelors of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained her medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed her General Surgery Residency training at Westchester Medical Center.

• Dr. Elaine Lee (Panelist) is a Fellowship-trained Breast Surgeon from Anne Arundel Medical Center, Maryland. She studied at UC Berkeley before going on to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She currently works at Epic Care as a physician specializing in breast surgery.

• Dr. Min Yan (Panelist) graduated from Peking Union Medical College in China, pursued cancer research at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, and finished training for internal medicine and oncology in New York and UC San Diego. I like my work as I can help take care of patients in great need, particularly those with breast cancer.

• Dr. Daveena Ma (Panelist) is an internist and Asian Health Service’s Associate Chief Medical Officer. She is a graduate of Harvard University and New York University School of Medicine. She trained in Internal Medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and joined Asian Health Services immediately after residency. She has had the privilege of serving the Oakland Chinatown community as a primary care physician at Asian Health Services for over 15 years.
