Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, dates back over 550 years and is still practiced in modern-day Japan. Ikebana pays attention to the overall line and form of all plant material used and emphasizes minimalism and asymmetry. No previous knowledge of Ikebana is required.

When: 2nd Fridays and 2nd Saturdays and 4th Saturdays 2 – 4pm 

Age levels: Adults 18 and up 

Cost: $45 (Includes flowers)

Additional materials needed?: Students must bring their own:

1) Container – a wide (9-16″”) and shallow (3-4″”) dish or bowl, preferably with a flat bottom (suiban)

2) Garden scissors or pruning shears (hasami)

3) Flower frog (kenzan 2 3⁄4” or bigger) – available to borrow or purchase in class for ~$30

4) Small bucket to take flowers home (optional)
