Their work positions human creativity as an expansive response to attacks on land\, memory\, and cultural ecosystems. Together they will discuss how authors can craft inclusive work that holds history\, ecology\, and lived experience simultaneously. He started his professional career in the early 2000s\, working with murals\, arts education\, public art\, merchandise\, illustration and kids books. He is a co-founder of the Social Justice Children’s Book Fair and the illustrator of over 10 children’s books including I Am Sausal Creek\, which discusses the ecology\, history\, and conservation of a historic creek in Oakland. She holds a doctorate in environmental science and works to protect sensitive and endangered species and landscapes through land use planning and policy.
